Our Practices
At Yonah Mountain Farms, we believe healthy food begins with healthy soil. Every decision we make — from how we move our animals to how we rest our land — comes back to one goal: restoring creation through regenerative agriculture.
Regenerative Grazing
Our animals are always on the move. We rotate cattle, sheep, goats, and poultry through small paddocks daily, giving each area time to rest and regrow before the animals return. This mimics natural herd movement and builds soil fertility, root depth, and plant diversity with every rotation. Grazing this way captures carbon, increases organic matter, and keeps our pastures thriving — without fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides.
No Chemicals, No Shortcuts
We don’t rely on chemical dewormers, antibiotics, vaccinations, or growth hormones. Instead, we rely on biology — clean pasture, diverse forage, and daily movement to keep our animals healthy and thriving. Our focus is prevention through balance, not treatment through drugs.
Pasture-Raised Everything
- We never confine animals. Every creature here has access to sunshine, fresh air, and living forage.
- Cattle, sheep, pigs, and goats graze diverse pastures of native and naturalized forages.
- All beef, lamb, and goat are raised on a 100% forage-based diet. They receive nothing but native pasture and a mineral supplement.
- Our chickens and turkeys follow behind the grazers in mobile shelters, spreading manure, controlling flies, and adding fertility.
- It’s a complete cycle of life — each species playing its part in the regeneration of the land.
- Our poultry and pigs receive a supplemental ration of non-GMO corn-free and soy-free feed.
Soil Comes First
Soil is our foundation. We monitor soil health through plant diversity, root structure, and the presence of beneficial insects and fungi. Every blade of grass and every hoofprint tells a story about what’s happening beneath the surface. Healthy soil grows healthy animals — and ultimately, healthy people.
Local Food, Real Connection
We keep our food local on purpose. Selling directly to customers means we know the people who eat what we produce. We get to share not only our products but also the story behind them — how they were raised, what they ate, and why it matters.

Our Commitment
We’re not trying to be the biggest farm. We’re trying to be the best stewards we can be — of the land, the animals, and the people who depend on both. Every egg, every pound of meat, every blade of grass is part of something much larger: a living system that can heal itself when given the chance.
